Belief With the belief that Nakki lake is a sacred offspring of the Holy River Ganga, the tribal gather together every year to deliver the “Asthiya” of their beloved family members and share their sorrow at Nakki lake. The ceremony The scenes are full of people providing morale support to each other in their sorrow amidst a emotional surrounding which signifies their love towards each other. Crying which sounds like speaking in a rhythm while Memories flashing back bringing tears to their eyes is witnessed as the ceremony goes on.

Hide and seek ! According to a ritual, the boys and girls find each other a life partner and inform their parents of their partners and then they have to escape from their parents unless they get a son. Until then they are searched by their parents while they hide.

Possible cases A two case scenario exists : Case 1: If caught before giving the birth to a son or the allocated time they have to pay a penalty amount to the Sarpanch ( Head) of the village. Case 2: If they are successful in giving the family members a slip until they give birth to a son or stay hidden the for allocated time then the family members accept them and get them married. Outcome Children always participate in their parents marriage and many times they marry when they are grandparents.
