The mission of plastic free Rajasthan which was taken a decade ago, and seemed nearly impossible to happen in the only hill station of Rajasthan : Mount Abu is now being achieved. The only hill station of rajasthan being a tourist spot could not cope up with plastic waste issues earlier. But now because of the efforts of Dr. Ravindra Goswami, SDM Mount Abu is going to be completely free of plastic on the freedom day itself i.e. 15 August 2019. The active citizens of Mount Abu, the forest department and others have also contributed to this impossible mission being possible now.

The young minds are the best place to start a new initiative with and so various activities were conducted for children under the topic plastic free Mount Abu. The diverse activities conducted were debate competition, poster competition, essay-writing competition, rangoli competition etc.

In this series, plastic bottles were replaced with glass/copper/metal bottles. The hotels were instructed to provide copper/metal/glass bottles instead of plastic bottles so that tourist do not go to other provisions and buy plastic water bottles. Plastic bags are now strictly banned in the city. The municipal office also distributed cloth bags to each and every house with the message of plastic free Mount Abu.

Along with all other media portals of Abu, AbuTimes played a vital role in contributing towards the growth of plastic free Mount Abu. It has always kept citizens of Mount Abu updated about the decisions that are being taken for this initiative. It has always kept people of Mount Abu connected with the leaders. It created different videos and visuals in the past one month to make people aware about the harmful causes of plastic on our environment and our beloved mountains.
