Its a white breasted kingfisher. Local people do call this bird by name of ‘kilkila‘ also known as ‘white throated’ or ‘smyrna kingfisher’.

It has blue short tail, red legs and black distal tips.But it has large head with long reddish orange pointed bills.Throat and breast is white coloured and during flight white patches in wings also visible.

It is ‘tree kingfisher’ which is mostly found away from water.
They are often found sitting on edges of trees.As you can also see in this pic it is perching on a tree .It dives onto a prey from perch.

It is not a specialist fish eater. .It is often found nesting in holes in trees.It feeds on wide range of prey that also includes small rodents and reptiles.
