Ethics is a method by which we categorize our values and follow them. Therefore, our actions and experiences in everyday life are the subjects of ethics. Ethics is the study of what is right and what is wrong. Good-evil, right-wrong, virtue-vice, justice-injustice are some of the ethical concepts. While the importance of ethics can’t be
ignored in any walk of life, it is imperative that they are practiced in the field of education. The main purpose of education is to improve humankind.

Education builds character, gives knowledge and helps inthe progress of a nation. But unfortunately it is collapsing in each and every sphere of life, so imparting ethical education is the need of the hour. Teachers play a very important role in student’s life not only by giving education but also by developing their personality.
Teachers should help the students in becoming more civilized, more human. Only then can education bring ethics and remain with a student as a very significant part of his character. Aristotle rightly said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all”.

Mrs. Rukhsana Saifee presently working as Associate Professor, HSS at CIT, Abu Road has been recently awarded with PhD degree in English Dept. She did her PhD in “Thematic and Stylistic Concerns: An exploration in the Selected works of Chitra Banarjee Divakruni”.
